Is Interest to be paid to tenants for Security Deposits in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco state ? Most of these deposits are for less than 1 year leases. 3 to 6 months is the average rental period for the majority and the security deposits are equal or less than the monthly rent amount.

There hasn’t been any new development. The bill is still in review with the senate. Optimistic observers are expecting this to go through the entire process by the end of the year. Others are less optimistic. I discussed these points of view in the follow-up article I posted shortly after (New Bank Trust Law – How Long Will it Take? How Promising?)

There are also advantages to owning by means of a bank trust, such as easier inheritance, so some buyers will choose to own by means of a bank trust even if the requirement is taken away.

If you are interested in buying, I wouldn’t hold off waiting for the bank trust bill.
