Mexico Real Estate's professional organization, AMPI (Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals), has been dedicating large amounts of effort to professionalizing the industry. In this interview Thomas Lloyd, founder and president of TOPMexicoRealEstate.com, a network of Mexico's leading real estate experts, speaks with Pedro Trueba, president of AMPI National, and Wilberth Gutierrez, president of the Riviera Maya chapter of AMPI.  Trueba and Gutierrez discuss that because of the lack of licensing in Mexico – only the two states of Sonora and Cuahuila have regulations concerning licenses and an agent's obligation to prove their knowledge to buyers – AMPI has been promoting and building professionalism in the industry.  All member agents of AMPI are also REALTORS, through a connection between AMPI and NAR, its U.S. counterpart. AMPI also offers courses and educational programs for ongoing professionalization of its members.  In 2009, a special landmark was reached with the creation of the first formal university degree in Mexico real estate. Mexico Agents, or aspiring agents, can work to obtain this new degree, which will serve as a guarantee that of their knowledge and professionalism. With this degree comes a "cedula profesional," a professional identification number and certificate given only to highly trained professionals, such as doctors and lawyers, holding a university degree.  Through its efforts in courses and in this degree, AMPI is moving the real estate industry in Mexico towards a a level of professionalism which gives buyers security in transactions, Mexicans and foreigners alike.  AMPI's logo serves as a source of confidence for clients that the agent with whom they are dealing will carry out the transaction in a professional and responsible manner.  TOPMexicoRealEstate.com; Mexico's Leading Network of Specialists for Finding and Purchasing Mexican Properties Safely Â
